Shared Ownership
If you currently own your own home, you may wish to consider the option of a Shared Ownership scheme. Typically these will give you from 50% up to 75% ownership of a property with rent being payable to the Landlord on the balance. If you are claiming certain benefits, Housing Benefit may be available to help towards paying the rented part of these schemes. Shared ownership schemes are often run by Housing Associations who are Social Landlords (see Renting a Home), for example Equity Housing Association Limited.
