Choosing a new home
Making a decision about where to live can be difficult and at times upsetting (and exhausting). Remember to think about the long-term future, to look at all the options and to get help if you need it. The right information will help you identify current worries, needs, preferences and options. Click here for a factsheet.
The options include:
-
moving to a smaller place;
-
shared ownership;
-
renting from a social or private landlord;
-
sheltered housing;
-
extra care housing;
-
residential care.
The Elderly Accommodation Council offer a search facility to help you find out what accommodation is available in the area in which you would like to live. Their website is at www.HousingCare.org and is a site for you, your family, carers and advisors, and all those who work with you and with them.
If you are considering buying or privately renting a smaller home the website www.rightmove.co.uk has a search facility you can use to find out what is available in the area in which you wish to live.
